Hotel Accommodation in Sturminster Newton, Dorset

Plumber Manor

Plumber Manor is one of the finest, most characterful country house hotels in Dorset; the only manor house in the UK that is still owned, and now run as an hotel, by the same family that built it in the early 1600s. There's no pretence here and the hospitality renowned.

You're guests of one of the oldest families in Dorset, whose roots can be traced back to William the Conqueror, and they'll really look after you. There's even a portrait of Charles I, in the Gallery, which he personally presented to his mistress who was a member of the family.

You'll feel as though you're staying with friends, whether or not you're with the family. Actually, this is one of the loveliest family hotels in Dorset and is one of the finest country hotels near Longleat Safari Park.

In the main house, the luxury accommodation comprises six very comfortable bedrooms approached via an impressive yet charming gallery, hung with family portraits, typical of fine Jacobean houses of the period. The view from these rooms overlooks the lovely gardens and surrounding Dorset countryside.

A further ten extremely spacious rooms, with window seats overlooking the river and the topiary garden, are in the beautifully restored natural stone barn that surrounds the topiary courtyard. Four of these splendid rooms have access to car parking behind and so these are the ones into which dogs are allowed. Two of the courtyard rooms also have wheelchair access.

Home-made shortbread biscuits will be waiting for you in your room as well as everything you would expect of a fine Dorset country house hotel, i.e. private bathroom, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, direct-dial telephone and hair-dryer.
