Wildlife & Wellbeing Picnic in the Park
Nature nurtures, both the wildlife and ourselves. This is an opportunity to meet those people who take care of our wildlife and nature, the great outdoors and our health.
Our wildlife event this year in Radipole Gardens is going to be bigger and better.
It's a little disputed fact that nature, wildlife and the great outdoors can have a healing effect on both our bodies and minds.
Consequently this year we are combining with other agencies such as Stepping into Nature, Active Ageing and Live Well Dorset to create an all-round event.
Wildlife and well-being, nature and nurture, find out what the great outdoors can do for us and what we can do to help it. A chance to chat to those experts who care for our wildlife and advise us how we can help.
Or talk to those who can help you participate in free taster sessions of various activities, from pilates to orienteering, cooking healthy meals to simply chilling.
Join in the singing or enjoy 'A magical outdoor storytelling session for families' from professional storyteller Martin Maudsley, exploring everyday nature and inspired by the Lost Words book. Martin will bring to life a selection of colourful folktales and legends celebrating some of the same plants and animals that feature in the Lost Words. Join him amongst the greenery of Radipole Park to find out why wren is King of the Birds, what happened to wily weasel and who's behind the doorway in the old oak tree (between 11-12.30)
There is plenty for everyone from tiny tots to golden oldies to enjoy.
Want to just relax? That's fine, spread your picnic rug and open your hamper in our chill zone beneath our romantic, gnarled weeping willows.
Free entry to event.
