Friar's Cliff

This sand and shingle beach situated roughly halfway between Mudeford and Highcliffe is an ideal spot for a family trip to the seaside.

As with many south coast beaches, Friar's Cliff beach is cut by groynes - a mixture of rock and wooden boards attempting to reduce erosion of the beach by longshore drift.

A row of brightly painted beach huts line the promenade behind the beach and are available for hire. Friar's Cliff has a good range of facilities and is lifeguarded between July 3rd and September 5th.

The beach is popular for swimming, windsurfing and sea canoeing, with zoning for watersports. Toilets lie behind the beach huts and promenade

The Christchurch Coastal Path runs the full length of the Christchurch coastline from Chewton Bunny to Mudeford Quay.

Adjacent to Friar's Cliff lies Steamer Point, a 24 acre cliff top designated Local Nature Reserve (LNR). A mixture of deciduous woodland areas, ponds, grassland and sea cliffs, the Reserve is a great place to spot migratory summer birds and insects.
