Charnel is a small southeast facing rocky beach situated just to the west of Kimmeridge Bay and sheltered by the Broad Bench headland.
Like neighbouring Kimmeridge Bay, the area has some interesting geology with dark Upper Jurassic cliffs and rock platforms.
Please Note: Charnel is only accessible when the Lulworth Army Firing Ranges are open to the public.
A large red warning sign should be read and understood it states:'M.O.D. Firing Range. Access past this sign is forbidden at all times. If you ignore this notice your life is in danger'. There is a CCTV camera located up on the Broad Bench headland which monitors the area. You have been warned!
Please also be aware that the beach around Broad Bench and to the west, marked on maps as 'Hobarrow Bay' is always closed to the general public.
