Swanage Museum has 3 separate locations. The Museum is located at The Square, next to the seafront. There is a Local Studies Centre at Marine Villas on Swanage Pier. There is also a purpose built controlled storage facility.
Disabled Access: The Heritage Centre where the Museum is situated has wheelchair access. Marine Villas has limited access, alternative arrangements for viewing material can be arranged. Access to our store is limited. Arrangements can be made to view artefacts.
The Story of Swanage from the Dinosaurs and the Jurassic Coast to the Seaside Resort and World War II. Period shop displays include Hardy's Builders Workshop and Lloyds Dispensing Chemists. Through the stone trade to London, Swanage's "founding fathers", John Mowlem and George Burt, brought many discarded relics to Swanage. Local and Family History research facilities. The Museum is open Daily from Easter to October. Free Admission but donations gratefully accepted.
